The oldest chartered club in district 5130, the Rotary Club of Napa was first chartered in 1920, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Oakland. From its original membership of 24 men, the club has grown to a membership of 112 men and women in 2008. The club meets for lunch each Wednesday at 12:00 at the Napa Elk's Lodge located at 2840 Soscol Ave. in Napa.
The Rotary Club of Napa has dedicated itself to the goals of Rotary International which includes the worldwide eradication of Polio. Rotary International's President for 2010-2011 is Ray Klinginsmith of Missouri.
The theme he has chosen for the year is "Building Communities - Bridging Continents." Ray says, "If we succeed in helping clubs to become Bigger, Better, and Bolder in the next year, then it will be clear that the best days of Rotary are still ahead."
This year's board has adopted the following goals towards this theme as well as several that will enhance future operations of the club. The goals are:
- Increase membership
- Support the Pathway Home project at the Yountville Veterans Home--a first-of-its-kind program designed to assist returning veterans with post traumatic stress disorder
- Grow the Scholarship Endowment Fund
- Support Interact at New Tech High School
- Continue Festival of Brotherhood as an International Project
- Continue local projects
- Continue the Cycle 4 Sight Rotary Ride for Veterans Event
- Be a 100% sustaining member club ($100 per member to Foundation per year)
- Have Fun! We believe that we can enjoy fun and fellowship while accomplishing the above goals.
